Sewage spill clean-up and decontamination, day or night

Sewage contains bacteria and viruses that make it a genuine health hazard, and it soaks into porous materials fast. We extract standing waste, strip out contaminated materials, disinfect every affected surface and set up drying equipment so the property can be repaired and reoccupied.

Compliance and paperwork

Contaminated material from this work is classed as clinical or hazardous waste. We segregate, package and remove it through registered waste carriers, and you receive the waste transfer or consignment note, which is what your duty of care under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 requires you to keep. Chemicals are used under COSHH assessments, and every job has a site-specific risk assessment and method statement.

We cover England, Scotland and Wales from our London office, with sewage spill clean-up available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Sewage spill clean-up: common questions

Is it safe to stay in the property?

Occupants should stay out of affected areas until they've been decontaminated. We'll advise on which rooms can be used when we assess the site.

Will my insurance cover sewage clean-up?

Many buildings policies do. We provide photos, moisture readings and an itemised report to support your claim.

Do you fix the drain as well?

We focus on the clean-up and decontamination. We can coordinate with your drainage contractor, or recommend one, so the cause is fixed before we reinstate.

Who is responsible if sewage comes from the public sewer?

In England and Wales, the water company is responsible for public sewers. If sewage from a public sewer floods your property, contact them as well, as you may be entitled to compensation under the Guaranteed Standards Scheme.

Can carpets be saved after a sewage leak?

Carpets and underlay contaminated with sewage are normally disposed of, because they can't be reliably decontaminated. Hard floors and many hard surfaces can be cleaned and disinfected.
